WILDLIFE PARKS IN NORTH INDIA
- Bandhavgarh National Park
Bandhavgarh National Park is located around 195 km off Jabalpur and 210 km off Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh. Considered as the crown in the wildlife heritage of Madhya Pradesh, Bandhavgarh is known for the Royal Bengal Tigers, cheetals, leopard, gaur, sambhar, and many more faunal species. Bandhavgarh National Park is nestled in the Vindhya mountain range of Central India full of hills and reverines.
- Corbett National Park
Jim Corbett National Park was India's first national park, located near Nainital in the state of Uttaranchal. It was established as a national park in 1936 under the United Provinces National Parks Act of India.
- Ranthambore National Park
Ranthambore National Park is part of the much larger Ranthambore Tiger Reserve, and lies in the Sawai Madhopur district of Eastern Rajasthan, a state in Northwestern India. Ranthambore is one of India's most popular national parks because the chance of seeing a tiger in the wild, is greater here. Ranthambore is an important conservation area for Indian Wildlife.
- Kaziranga National Park
Kaziranga National park lies on the south bank of the Brahmaputra and its boundary for the most part follows the Mora Diphlu river and runs parallel to National highway No.37. The predominant vegetation is a mixture of tall grasslands and riverine forests. There are many marshes, interconnecting streams and ox-bow lakes, known locally as 'bheels' or 'bils'.
- Rajaji National Park
Established in 1996 on the edge of the Dehradun valley is Rajaji National Park, covering an area of approx 820sq.kms. The wildlife here includes elephant, tiger, panther, bear, chital, sambar, wild boar, kakar, python, monitor lizard and a large variety of avian fauna. You find many opportunities of viewing these animals in their natural habitat here.
- Sultanpur National Park
The Sultanpur National Park is located in the Indian state of Haryana at a distance of 45 km from Delhi, the national capital. The park extends from latitude 28°37' in the North to longitude 77°04' in the east. It is well connected by roads with Delhi and Gurgaon, the district headquarters.
