Kanha Wildlife Reserve Guide KanhaNational park was declaried "Tiger Reserve" in 1974 Under Project Tiger. Kanha National Park located in the Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh. Kanha is also famous for its gaur and the hard-hoofed swamp deer (Barasingha). Wild Species in Kanha Kanha has some 22 species of mammals. Those most easily spotted are the Striped Palm Squirrel, Common Langur, Jackal, Wild Pig, Chital or Spotted Deer, Barasingha or Swamp Deer, Sambar and Black Buck. Less commonly seen species are Tiger, Indian Hare, Dhole or Indian Wild Dog, Barking Deer, Indian Bison or Gaur. Patient watching should reward the visitor with sight of; Indian Fox, Sloth Bear, Striped Hyena, Jungle Cat, Leopard, Mouse Deer, Chausingha or four-horned Antelope, Nilgai, Ratel and Porcupine. Very rarely seen species are Wolf which lives in the far east of the park, Chinkara found outside the Park's northern boundary, Indian Pangolin, the smooth Indian Otter and the small Indian Civet. Best Time To Visit Kanha Wildlife Reserve : - The Kanha National park is open from November to June. Best time is here to visit is from Novermer till April. In May & June it is too hot in that area. Safaris In Kanha National Park : - Jeep Safari and Elephant Safari are the two options for spotting wild animals in the park. The safaris can be enjoyed any time during the day while the best time for animal spotting is during early morning or late evening. The safari timings generally are 6 AM to 12 Noon and 3 to 5:30 PM While it is essential to take along a park guide on a jeep safari, an elephant safari is the better option where the mahout or the elephant driver will be your companion and guide. To get on an Elephant ride, one has to book a seat for the Tiger show, offered in the mornings.
